Organizational Background and Experience

The Juniors and Child Care Foundation (JACCAFO) is a registered NGO located in Tanzania, established in 2018 and legally recognized on December 15, 2021, under the NGO Act No. 4 of 2002 with Registration Number 00NGO/R/2689. JACCAFO focuses on empowering marginalized Communities, such as individuals with disabilities, youth, women, and children, by advocating for gender equality, inclusive education, human rights, and community empowerment.

Since its inception, JACCAFO has implemented various impactful initiatives. These initiatives encompass providing school supplies and mobility aids to disabled children at Maswa District, conducting menstrual hygiene education and distributing reusable sanitary pads, raising awareness about inclusive education in rural communities, and establishing hygiene stations in over 20 schools—efforts that have considerably enhanced school attendance among girls and alleviated stigma surrounding menstruation.

The organization has also implemented hearing screenings for more than 300 students in primary schools within Maswa district to aid those with hearing impairments, and has supplied educational materials and sanitary pads to over 500 girls with disabilities.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Ontario Teachers' Federation (OTF) of Canada, JACCAFO is embarking on a project to provide over 20 desks to rural primary schools during the 2024/2025 period, which will improve classroom learning and ensure equitable access to quality education.

JACCAFO's successes are the result of strong community participation and strategic collaborations with local partners, ensuring sustainability and a long-term impact. As the African proverb goes, “A bird does not forget the tree where it built its nest.” In this vein, JACCAFO remains committed to uplifting marginalized communities and ensuring that no one is left behind on the journey toward empowerment and self-reliance.
